Proposed bond sale for new park heads to Terrebonne Parish Council amid concerns
A local board is forging ahead with plans for a new park despite concerns that it could scuttle proposed reforms that would merge several public recreation districts in northern Terrebonne Parish.
The Recreation District 1 board voted unanimously Friday to approve the sale of up to $4 million in bonds. It will ask the Parish Council on Wednesday to give the measure final approval. Rec District 1 covers Oakshire, Gray and Schriever.
If the council approves, the money will be used to build a new Coteau-Bayou Blue Park on Bayou Gardens Boulevard, officials said.
