The man accused of killing 10 people at a Boulder King Soopers grocery store nearly three years ago targeted and pursued each individual victim, a Boulder police detective testified Tuesday during a preliminary hearing in Boulder County District Court.
Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 24, understands the court process and how to assist in his own defense, Boulder County District Court Judge Ingrid Bakke wrote in a 13-page ruling, rejecting his public defenders' arguments that he is still too mentally ill to face the charges against him.
The man suspected of killing 10 in a Boulder King Soopers shooting in 2021, has been deemed legally competent by the judge on his case. Despite the mental health stay being lifted, the man will stay at Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo, per the judge's request.
