Portland Water Bureau picks second woman as top engineer in 150 years May 21 2021
Jodie Inman will take a commanding post at the Water Bureau as it grapples with major projects, including a new treatment plant.
A new chief engineer will ensure that Portland s labyrinthine network of 2,200 miles of pipes keep the water flowing from 53 tanks and reservoirs to nearly 1 million customers.
Jodie Inman, a 13-year veteran of the bureau who was selected as chief engineer last month, was hailed by city staff as the second woman to occupy the chief technical role in the government agency s 150-year history. I m honored to be the second woman in this role, she said. I think it speaks to the efforts that the Water Bureau, the city and the industry are making in being more inclusive.

Replacement Washington Park reservoir project reaches milestone December 10 2020
The Portland Water Bureau hosts an online celebration to mark the completion of the $205 million underground reservoir.
The project to replace the water reservoir in Washington Park reached a milestone when the final concrete slab was poured on Monday, Dec. 7.
The new 12.4-million-gallon reservoir is expected to begin providing water to more than 360,000 west side customers in the spring.
The Portland Water Bureau marked the completion with an online celebration that included comments by some of the people most closely involved with the Washington Park Reservoirs Improvement Project. They included Patricia Schechter, wife of the late Commissioner Nick Fish, who oversaw the bureau during much of the project before passing away in January of this year.
