The Ministry of Health has sent the Coroner s office a blank Excel sheet that describes what was discovered by inspectors who visited Quebec s CHSLDs during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
If only 71 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated in the fall, and social contacts return to pre-pandemic levels, Quebec could report 1,000 new cases per day by October, along with dozens of daily hospitalizations.

The latest COVID-19 projections from Quebec’s public health institute (INSPQ) show optimistic scenarios for the Greater Montreal Area, but indicate the regions will remain unstable for a little while longer, even with emergency measures in place.
The optimism shown in Thursday’s projections, when compared with previous ones, relies heavily on the vaccine rollout in Quebec.

“The main difference, which was a game-changer in terms of our projections, was the announcement that there would be more than one million additional doses in May and June,” said Marc Brisson, a professor at Université Laval who works with the INSPQ and presented the projections on Thursday.
