Jordan Rivers and Courus will join the line-up of top South African performers, including Goodluck, Mi Casa, Jesse Clegg, Black Motion featuring Brendon Praise and Msaki, Prime Circle and DJ Zinhle for the music extravaganza. Huawei Joburg Day with 947 is free to view on the 947 website and will also be hosted live on-air on 94.7 FM.   947 and Huawei have announced the winners of the music talent search competition in the run-up to the second online rendition of Huawei Joburg Day with 947. The two winners will perform on the same stage as some of South Africa s biggest names.

AKA withdraws from Joburg Day line-up and other public events

Image: Instagram/AKA Rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes has U-turned on his decision to return to the spotlight, announcing his withdrawal from the Huawei Joburg Day line-up and public appearances in general. In a statement shared by AKA s management team, The T Effect, the rapper said he would not be performing at events in the near future. Pumza Nohashe, his publicist, confirmed the withdrawal to SowetanLIVEs sister publication TshisaLIVE yesterday. “The hip-hop megastar has elected to take a step back from the musical eventing space because he is currently in a space where he feels it is necessary to place a greater emphasis on looking after his emotional and physical wellbeing.”

Picture: Instagram Kiernan Forbes’ music career has taken a back seat for obvious reasons, as he takes the time to focus on his “current state of mind” after the death of his partner, Anele Nelli Tembe.  It has been a pretty relentless couple of weeks for the rapper, known as AKA. The timeline of developments since Tembe’s death has been nonstop in the news cycle since 11 April. He gave a surprise performance on 9 May at the Nedbank Cup final and his performance came sooner than expected for some. Forbes is aware of the growing innuendos of the possible negative influence he had on Tembe and claims of violence in their relationship. He has repeatedly denied he is a suspect in her death. Police say investigations are still ongoing.

AKA PUTS BIG PERFORMANCE ON ICE! By Quincy Mahlangu Rapper AKA takes a break . AWARD-WINNING rapper AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes, has pulled out of the Joburg Day event. This was announced by artist management company, The T Effect, which released a statement on his behalf announcing his withdrawal from the event, which is set to take place on 28 May. According to the statement, AKA, who recently lost his fiancee Anele “Nelli” Tembe after she fell from a hotel building in Cape Town, said his decision to pull out of the event was because he needed to do some self-introspection and healing.
