just got back from new orleans. and he once again made the rising of the rivers joke. i ve got to say, it was interesting. obviously they put ann romney up initially. we heard governor romney, his wife, mrs. romney, spoke first. clearly they think she helps to humanize him, to make him more likeable. we heard him say that he thinks barack obama broke his promise for more jobs. but of course, there are there are more jobs. there are, of course, millions more jobs now. and the oceans joke again. i am a little baffled, i must say. he s playing the green agenda against the jobs agenda. we recognize some of the most important jobs we can create are new environmentally sensitive jobs, jobs to help us control the environment. in the middle of a hurricane season, this level of insensitivity speaks to the nature of the republican base. i think this no-nothing anti-science culture is ublt up there. what they think of as a legitimate thing to say, the rest of us go what?
i m here telling you that i will always come and respect your organization by appearing before you. governor romney did promise a jobs agenda. he vowed to be the best president for african-americans which was met with a mixed response. let s watch this. i m going to eliminate every non-essential expensive program i can find. that includes obama care and i m going to work to reform and save [ booing ] mayor, what is it he didn t say? he is addressing the point as we all know of 14% unemployment in the african-american community. you think he should have gone further in that regard. he absolutely showed no evidence from what i saw. i was not there. but from what i observed, he showed absolutely no evidence of the appropriate approach to the people who were in attendance. if he simply said that factually
boos to re-ensure that he is the guy that they can trust not to do anything that anybody in that room would want him to do. okay. now you are playing real hardball. by drawing the boos this went according to plan. this fit the script and romney campaign got out. event exactly what they were looking for. there s no question in my mind that they got out exactly what they were looking for. after all, he could have very easily taken the high road and he could have proceeded to said things that the obama administration will not saw about issues affecting the lives of black people. he could have shown clearly how he intends to extend the opportunity and he could have convinced by saying i m sorry the president isn t here. i m here telling you that i will always come and respect your organization by appearing before you. governor romney did promise a jobs agenda. he vowed to be the best
economists doesn t really have much thoughts about the economy. he calls paul ryan s budget marvelous and that appears to be what s directing had imin terms of economic policy. i don t believe that mitt romney s going to be giving marching orders to leader boehner. i think that what they re doing here is coordinating. and i think what they re coordinating around are the kinds of things that we ll be seeing in coming weeks and months that are actually of great import to the economy and things the electorate ought to learn a lot about. for example, health care reform, the supreme court is going to be telling us where that s going. the jobs agenda as karen was just talking about, tax policy. the idea, and the president s been strong on this point. the house republicans are really the ones who are standing between the people of america and a better economic recovery. they re sitting on the transportation bill, for example, bipartisan support in the senate. they won t pass it in the house
