heather: welcome back, fox business alert, thousands of people without social security numbers are getting benefits from the federal government. rob: cheryl casone to explain how this could happen, cheryl. cheryl: new audit has reveal that had the social security security administration paid $1 billion to people that don t have a social security number. the inspector general found that over the last decade the agency paid the money to 22,426 individuals that represent someone who is retired or disabled that can t manage the benefits themselves and it gets worse n a statement inspector general said, quote, unless it takes corrective action we estimate the fsa will pay about 182.5 million in benefits annually to representative payees who do not have their own social security number. the audit excuse me found the agency paid 853 million in benefits to individuals who had been terminated as
