Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has filed a legal complaint against an unidentified individual for creating fake social media accounts in her name and misleading people with false job offers.
The Central government has blocked 100 websites operated by overseas actors for their alleged involvement in organized investment and task-based part-time job frauds.
These websites, facilitating task-based and organised illegal investment-related economic crimes, were learned to be operated by overseas actors by using digital advertisement, chat messengers, and mule or rented accounts.
The Centre on Wednesday said it blocked over 100 websites involved in organised investment and task-based part-time job frauds. These websites, the Centre said, organised illegal investment-related economic crimes.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhupinder Negi said besides spurt in cases, the increase in the number of complaints is also attributed to the awareness on cyber crime as large scale awareness campaigns are being carried out for the general public, especially the youth on cyber frauds and as a result more people are coming forward to file complaints.
