Harnessing the power of the sea: A beluga whale found with a Russian-made harness has raised the alarm of Norwegian officials amid speculation the animal may have escaped from a Russian military facility.
The Beluga whale was originally found by fishermen off the coast of Norway in 2019 with a harness capable of carrying surveillance equipment strapped around its body.
Hvaldimir was first spotted off the coast in Norway in 2019 wearing a harness that appeared to have mounts for cameras. Researchers at the time said there was proof the beluga whale was trained by the Russian Navy. Experts are warning the public to keep a safe distance from Hvaldimir to avoid injuring or killing him
