Boggon, 33, indicated a plea of guilt and was made to pay £12 compensation and a £34 victim surcharge. He was also made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service. HARRY ATKINSON, 18, was handed a community order by the court after dangerous driving and failing to stop his vehicle when being asked to do so by a police officer. The Croftside, Birtley resident, was found guilty of the offence which took place March 27, 2021 at Murton. He was banned from driving for 15 months.

TWO farming organisations are now faced with being made homeless when the Newton Rigg campus closes this summer. Both the Farmer Network and Cumbria Federation of Young Farmers Club have been told by owners York-based Askham Bryan they must vacate offices they have on the Penrith campus no later than July 31. Farmer Network managing director Adam Day said: “Very sadly, the demise of Newton Rigg College seems inevitable. Penrith is an ideal central base for the Farmer Network, and we would like to ensure that we have good access for those members who need to visit the office for meetings and to benefit from other types of support that we offer.”

The Farmer Network and Cumbria Young Farmers Club have been told by the campus owner Askham Bryan that they must vacate their offices no later than July 31. York-based Askham Bryan has put the campus, near Penrith, on the market this week. The Farmer Network, invited by the college to base itself on campus in 2013, is a not-for-profit support organisation for the farming communities of Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales.
