JoAnne Hinton passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in Alexandria, Virginia at the age of 64.
JoAnne is survived by her son, Morris Edward Hinton; her granddaughter, Brittany; her great-granddaughter Zy’Monnie her parents, Ernest and Ann Austin; her brothers, Eric, John, and Kenneth; and her sisters, Bertha, Dorothy, and Lisa.
Along with her immediate relatives, she is survived by a host of family, friends, loved ones, and her beloved companion of over 20 years, Jessie Taylor.
She is preceded in death by her son, Warren Hinton.
JoAnne was born on August 18, 1956 in Washington, DC. She graduated from T.C. Williams High School in 1975. JoAnne was well known in the Alexandria area as “Auntie” or “Momma Jo”. Known for her boundless generosity, she opened her home to many in need of a hot meal and a bed. What she had to spare, she shared with an open heart.
