parks. oh, she s a six-week grandmother. by the, way when she was eulogized, often by politicians, they would say oh she s just a sweet old lady who was tired. first of all, she was 42 when she sat on the bus. that s partly grandmotherly age. also, she was really fierce and tough. people who knew her would describe just how tough she could be. yeah, i thought in the stock, and i should mention the stock was directed by two fantastic women. you and joanna hamilton, and it comes on a book by the same name, the rebellious life of mrs. rosa parks, that was led by i think the idea was to say there is so much you think you know that you don t yell. what you know is actually wrong, what you think you know about this woman who so famous, it s very small. there s a lot more to now. we really wanted to bring that to the public. how do we tell people the story of rosa parks? we re thrilled that it will be airing tonight on msnbc.
what compelled you to draw from the book and make this film about park s life? what was missing from the story as you heard it in the past? absolutely, well thank you for having us on reverend al. you know and my co director, i co-directed this film with joanna hamilton who contacted me after making contact with jane and reading her book. and she told me to you know check this book out that rosa parks a story had never been told. and a feature one documentary and that was immediately the first thing that was shocking. and i read the book and of course intrigued by the name, the rebellious life of mrs. rosa parks. i had never heard her name put in that no contact. when i read the book, i discovered like so many of us so much that i did not know
