This past COVID year became a year of social isolation. Going to work, the grocery store, and going to doctor’s appointments may have been the only outside communication for many people.
Having passed the holidays, the winter season still looks and feels long. Companionship is a link to a forgotten life when we were free to roam at will.
Pets can do a lot for us. They can help with preventing loneliness and give us a needed sense of responsibility. Loneliness can lead to stress, anxiety, and even medical complications.
When my father passed away, my mother and aunt jointly adopted a furry dog from the local animal shelter, who has been a great blessing.
