PUB bosses have slammed the government’s track and trace policy for forcing large groups of people to self isolate even if they haven’t been in close contact with someone with Covid-19. It comes after the Prime Minister has been forced to defend his policy which has led to millions of people being forced to stay at home - causing major problems for businesses. Despite plans to scrap all current Covid restrictions on July 19, the self-isolation policy will continue until August 16. Business owners have branded the move as “stupid” with one pub boss discouraging staff from socially mixing outside of work to avoid large numbers of staff being forced to self-isolate.

Statistics have revealed Southend has the least rainfall of all the coastal destinations across the UK. Southend businesses have welcomed the news and the business it could bring to the town. Marc Miller, managing director at Stockvale Ltd, said: “They say every cloud has a silver lining for someone somewhere, it just so happens on this occasion the whole town feels the benefit.
