Attention high school students! The Hayes Presidential Library & Museums in Fremont is looking for articles and short essays, stories and poems inspired by presidential history, one or more U.S. presidents, the media or presidents’ relationships with the media.
Submissions will be considered for publication in a special student section of the Statesman, Hayes Presidential’s quarterly newsletter. The section will run in the spring edition of The Statesman, which will be published in May.
Entries must be emailed to Education Coordinator Joan Eardly by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 31. PDF format is preferred. These are the submission parameters: Submissions are open to high school students (grades 9-12) only; Submissions can be one of the following: Article, short essay, short story or poem; All writing must be the student’s original work unless cited (MLA, APA or Chicago style).

Kids can make suncatcher at free program
FREMONT - Kids can make a suncatcher and enjoy prepackaged pancakes during Second Saturdays R 4 Kids on March 13 at the Hayes Presidential Library and Museums.
Kids will learn about Maslenitsa, a weeklong Russian festival celebrating the end of winter and welcoming the sun for spring.
Participants can stop by between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. The program is open-house style, and admission is free.
Second Saturdays R 4 Kids activities focus on Col. Webb Hayes’ travels around the world. Webb Hayes was the son of President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes, and he founded Hayes Presidential, which is America’s first presidential library.

First-time, full-time students who enroll at Ashland University this fall will have the opportunity to make use of a “2-for-1” Tuition Relief Scholarship.
Thanks to the generosity of AU’s trustees, first-time students who complete fall term with a GPA of 2.0 or better will automatically receive the “2-for-1” scholarship which will cover any remaining tuition expenses for the Spring 2022 semester.
“This scholarship is available to all first-time, full-time students living on campus for the Fall 2021 semester,” said University President Dr. Carlos Campo. “Ashland University is dedicated to providing financial help for any individual who wants to invest in a college education but may not be able to enroll because of financial limitation

Kids can create a craft or participate in activity relating to countries around the globe during a free, monthly program at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums. Second Saturdays R 4 Kids will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month in the museum.
Activities will focus on Col. Webb Hayes’ travels around the world. Webb Hayes was the son of President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes, and he founded Hayes Presidential, which is America’s first presidential library. Activities and crafts will be inspired by Webb Hayes’ adventures and locations he visited.
This event is open-house style, so participants can stop by any time between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. to complete the activities. This program is focused for kids in kindergarten through third grade, but kids of any age are welcome to participate.
