Germany, the pandemic is also helping organizers innovate to achieve their longer-term vision.
The
German-American Exchange program since 2009 has helped more than 220 college students learning German language and other disciplines arrange three-month summer stints working in Germany for companies like
Bosch, Porsche, UPS and others.
Amid the travel restrictions, visa issues and health uncertainties of 2020, the May-to-August program was postponed for the first time, along with a transatlantic investment conference held in

Faced with travel restrictions amid the pandemic, an international exchange program that brings
German apprentices to
Georgia continued in a virtual format this year, creating opportunities to attract more students and build deeper partnerships with local companies.
The program, Azubis Go USA, which is solely funded by the Joachim Herz Foundation, has since 2014 sent post-secondary technical college (Berufsschule) students working and training at companies across
Bavaria, Hamburg, Berlin and
Saxony to intern at Georgia firms.
