Popular movies and TV dramas influence and even set new trends. Recent period dramas such as Netflix s Joseon Kingdom zombie series Kingdom to tvN s fantasy historical drama Mr. Queen have sparked viewers interest in costumes and jewelry that are both historically authentic and imbibed with new creative twists.
Following the success of Mr. Queen that ended with its highest viewership rating of 17.4 percent in February, KBS2 s River Where the Moon Rises set in the ancient Goguryeo Kingdom (37 B.C.-A.D. 668) is on a roll despite changing its lead actor from Jisoo to Na In-woo.
The historical fusion drama is about a man from modern times whose soul is trapped in the body of a queen from the Joseon dynasty. Shin Hye Sun stars as Kim So Yong, the Joseon queen with the soul of Blue House chef Jang Bong Hwan trapped inside her. Kim Jung Hyun plays her husband King Cheoljong, who is a weak and ineffective king on the outside but is stronger and sharper than he appears. Seol In Ah stars as Jo Hwa Jin, King Cheoljong’s first love who opposes Kim So Yong.
Seol In Ah shared, “I was nervous and felt pressure because it was my first historical drama in a long time. It was an enjoyable time. Since the teamwork between the actors, staff, and director was good, I was able to act more comfortably without the pressure I had expected.”
As it heads into its series finale, tvN’s “Mr. Queen” has shared a fun new glimpse behind the scenes of filming!
While gearing up for its highly-anticipated final episode, the hit drama prepared to say goodbye by releasing a new batch of behind-the-scenes photos of its starring cast.
In addition to capturing the intense chemistry between leads Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun (who play Kim So Yong and Cheoljong respectively), the new photos also showcase the dedication and hard work of the drama’s many talented cast members.
Seol In Ah (who plays Jo Hwa Jin) and Na In Woo (Kim Byung In) can be seen poring over their scripts between takes, while Cha Chung Hwa (who plays Lady Choi) and Chae Seo Eun (Hong Yeon) passionately pour their all into filming an outdoor scene with Shin Hye Sun. Meanwhile, both Bae Jong Ok and Kim Tae Woo exude charisma in their respective roles of Queen Sunwon and Kim Jwa Geun.
