all right, america s first responders they re trained to handle just about any situation. but what about arriving at an emergency scene and realizing it is your family in danger? abc s david muir has the story. reporter: the assistant fire chief answering the call, horrific accident near riverside, texas. only when he arrives and gets closer does he realize it was his wife and his 7-year-old son. from the looks of the car, the fact that they re alive is a feat. reporter: aaron s wife amber, was thrown from the car, his son, jonathan, still trapped inside. my wife was laying there on the ground. and the look of the car, i don t know how either one of them lived. reporter: even after all of that training he describes the moment he saw his son. once i saw my son, that kind of went out the window. and i started going into a little bit of a panic mode. reporter: they get jonathan
