J.J. Barea left the Dallas Mavericks this year insisting that he s not quite done playing professional basketball.
While playing for his national squad in Puerto Rico, Barea is demonstrating that he is correct - literally, as you are about to see, winning the argument.
Barea is now playing for Movistar Estudiantes in Spain, while also representing his native Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is battling for a berth to play in the AmeriCup tournament and is presently taking part in the qualifier games.

JJB is headed overseas after coming to terms with Argentine team Estudiantes to play in Spain’s Liga Endesa, as our pal Marc Stein wrote the news on Friday.
Dallas signed JJB one last time this fall, creating a way to pay him a $2.6 million guaranteed contract despite not expecting him to make the roster. They wanted to reward him for his contributions to the team.

Dirk Nowitzki’s teammate J.J. Barea was recently featured in J.J. Reddick’s podcast, Old Man and the Three, where he revealed how much Nowitzki hated Miami’s big three.
Entering the 2011 NBA season, Nowitzki was poised to lead the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals.
Nowitzki’s quest for his first NBA ring in 2011 wasn’t an easy one. The former MVP had to go through Kobe’s Lakers, the talented Oklahoma City Thunder and finally the Heat’s Big Three, which consisted of LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade.
In the finals, Nowitzki played Game 4 with a fever. Several days later, videos were released showing LeBron and Wade mocking him being sick. Here’s Barea’s take on it:
