When the pandemic hit last March, manga publishers in North America were left with an uncomfortable choice: should they cut back on their book releases or stick it out and hope that things get better soon? But it turned out that while people were stuck at home, they started reading and buying more manga. And not just a little but a lot more manga.
According to NPD BookScan, the manga buying spree continues in 2021. Sales of print manga titles in the U.S. increased by 3.6 million units in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020.

[Entry Details]
(1) The contest will be accepting submissions under the following three categories. All entries must reflect the theme: “Wind”.
– 1 frame manga (1 page)
– 4 frame manga (1-8 pages)
– 4 to 24 page manga story
(Artists can submit to multiple categories and can make multiple entries. Co-produced works will also be accepted.)
(2) Entries must be original works that have not been previously published or publicly released. (Works published as doujinshi are acceptable)
[Submission Period]
Submissions must be received between April 1st 2020 and August 31st 2020 (no later than this date).
[Prizes]
The selection committee will review all three categories and select one work to be awarded the Grand Prize. Additional works will be considered for other awards. The contest prizes consist of the following:
