Spring Roster Overanalysis 2023

The new phonebook's here, but since they don't list weight changes in spring there's even less than usual to glean from the updated rosters. The big notes: Jalen Perry is gone. Alessandro Lorenzetti moved to DL. Kalel Mullings is an LB/RB. Order of the positions seems significant? The new guys have numbers, and some of them have interesting weights. Also there were some position changes among younger players. So let's be thorough anyways. DEPARTURES One guy in Michigan remembers Perry. [Patrick Barron] The only one that wasn't announced already was cornerback Jalen Perry. Can't say that's much of a surprise since he barely played in four years, and when he'd get mention it was behind all the freshmen. Report: George Helow Out

It felt inevitable once former star Michigan assistant/Paramus HC/very good LB coach Chris Partridge was returning, but now it appears official. Per Bruce Feldman, current LBs coach George Helow won't be back next year. SOURCE: Michigan and Wolverines LB coach George Helow have mutually agreed to part ways to pursue other opportunities. Helow who arrived in 2021, helped UM rank in the Top 15 in yards per play both YRs and developed Junior Colson into Freshman All-American and an All-Big Ten LB. Helow, a former Ravens assistant who was Mike Macdonald's choice in 2021, seemed the obvious man without a chair.
