Last week, after multiple overdose deaths in Hazard, officials with the Hazard Police Department announced they had begun working a large scale drug investigation along with the Drug Enforcement Agency and other law enforcement agencies. The investigation, said HPD, is ongoing, and some arrests are expected to be made in connection to the controlled substances.
âWe started getting notifications on Wednesday (March 3) afternoon of people that had overdosed, and a majority of them somebody was able to call and somebody was able to respond to it and administer Narcan,â said HPD Chief Minor Allen. âSeveral were transported to ARH.â
The overdoses, said Allen, continued into early morning on Thursday, March 4, when HPD received a call in Gorman Hollow claiming that there were three suspected overdoses in one apartment with a fourth individual needing medical assistance. After the 2018 season, High Point’s Asher Nolting and Chris Gray were spoken about in the same breath as two of the best freshmen in college lacrosse. In 2019, they had two of the most productive seasons in recent memory as Nolting put up 92 points and Gray put up 108. Last spring, Gray debuted at North Carolina after transferring from BU and Nolting’s production slipped a bit, posting 33 point in eight games as the Panthers started 2-6 before the season was shut down.
Now, they’re on a collision course for Tuesday afternoon as the Panthers and Tar Heels adjusted to Bellarmine’s recent 14-day program pause, opening up an opportunity for the North Carolina foes to meet at 2 p.m. on ACC Network in a battle of undefeateds.

Robert Morris, this season competing as an Independent after departing the NEC, has released its 2021 schedule, featuring four new opponents.
The Colonials will play 12 games, five against the Southern Conference, three ACC, two independents and one from the Patriot and Ivy Leagues. They’ll be road warriors, playing nine road matchups, a pair of home games and one neutral-site game.
They’ll begin with a road trip to Duke on Feb. 7 a busy week nationally in the Triangle then off to High Point and Bucknell before their first home game Feb. 23 against Bellarmine. There are two more ACC games vs. Notre Dame (Feb. 27) and Virginia (March 20).
