A day before a benefit concert and car show to raise funds for the Jimmie Van Zant Cancer Charity and to remember the Lynyrd Skynyrd band member who died of the disease, somebody stole a trailer containing rock n roll memorabilia valued at close to $12,000.
The items were to be sold at the April 10 Cruisin for Cancer Car Show and Concert at Southern Social Whiskey Bar in Middleburg.
Orange Park police on Friday posted an alert naming a suspect in the case as event organizers find ways to raise funds that could have come from selling items like a stolen 1957 Goldtop Les Paul guitar signed by Gregg Allman, Brian Howe, Butch Trucks and others. The department said an arrest warrant for grand theft has been issued for 38-year-old William James Walker of the Jacksonville area.
