Gridlock on Kingsway heading southbound as bomb disposal team block off industrial estate

Updated: December 21, 2020, 3:31 pm Traffic on the Kingsway ground to a halt today, after the Dryburgh Industrial Estate was blocked off to vehicles as the bomb squad investigated a “suspicious package”. © Supplied by Jimi Simpson The Dryburgh Industrial Estate has been blocked off to traffic causing a build-up of vehicles. Police said this morning the Tesco call centre building had been evacuated and the road in and around the centre closed – leading to a build-up of traffic. On Twitter, one woman shared pictures of the gridlock, however, she mistakenly reported that it was due to an accident. Police confirm that package found at Dundee call centre is non-suspicious

Bomb disposal experts were also seen inside the car park. A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were made aware around 10.10am on Monday, 21 December of a potentially suspicious package received at premises on Baird Avenue in Dundee. “A cordon was put in place as a precaution. “Explosive Ordnance Disposal attended and the contents of the package were found to be non-suspicious. Police shut Baird Avenue to vehicles for around two hours while the item was inspected.
