And that suggests titling it manpower and morale after tet rather than in vietnam, that something changed. After the 1968 tet offensive, the media documented a growing crisis, frequent stories of malaise, challenges to authority and reports of scandals and atrocities, the most infamous of which was the mai lai massacre. And internal military documents tell much the same story. So in thinking about what happened after the tet offensive, we are thinking about we suggested that things were different before 1968. People spread across 318 square miles for a density of about 400 and 60 per square mile, which is pretty sparse when you get down to it. We are roughly 30 africanamerican, 11 latino, 5 various mixes of immigrants and cultures there. The rest, caucasian. Kansas city has a variety of neighborhoods and an extremely sophisticated purpose and culture, things people might not expect. We have tremendous sports teams, great art. It is a place of variety, music, and barbecue. One thing i can tell you is all cities have similar problems. We have issues to deal with crime. Too many guns on the street, too much gun violence, too many homicides. We have to deal with that by educating kids. One thing we know is seldom do you have phds shooting each other on street corners. People who are under educated have fewer options and feel hopeless. When you feel hopeless, you feel angry. When you feel angry, you lash out. And we happen to have easy access to guns. The things that hold me close to kansas city
