(Enterprise photo â Aaron Cerbone) Legislation requiring the state agency that regulates utilities to review high-speed broadband access has been included as part of state budget negotiations, according to state Sen. Dan Stec. The Comprehensive Broadband Connectivity Act would require the state Public Service Commission to post a detailed access map on its website, showing internet service by location, and hold four public hearings between the public and internet service providers to address gaps in service. The bill has been included in both the Senate and Assembly’s one-house budget proposals.

Theirs are among the dozens of comments submitted to the U.S. Office of Management and Budget on a proposed change to the composition of metropolitan statistical areas that could result in more than 100 MSAs, as they’re called, losing that designation.
Five MSAs in New York could be affected, including the Glens Falls MSA, which comprises Warren and Washington counties. (The larger Albany-Schenectady-Troy MSA, which includes the core Capital Region counties, is not affected.)
The Post-Star Nearly 25% of people in a recent survey indicated that they plan to move to the Adirondacks within the next five years and are looking for recreational opportunities, affordable single-family homes and high-speed internet. Among the top destinations were Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Lake George, according to a study commissioned by EDC Warren County and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism in Lake Placid. Camoin Associations of Saratoga Springs conducted a survey that was promoted on social media by a variety of organizations and emailed to people on mailing lists. A total of 6,773 responses were collected from Jan. 19 to Jan. 29 of this year.
