Experiencing homelessness is something that can happen to any of us and here in northern Michigan, it’s a growing problem. That’s why one woman makes it her mission every holiday season to reach out to the less fortunate.
The ‘Christmas in the Streets’ event has been happening for the last eight years in Traverse City. The northern Michigan woman behind it all remains anonymous becau
se she says it’s never about her, but instead those in need. Starting in August, with the help of volunteers, she loads dozens of bags with items including a waterproof blanket, a headlamp, socks, hats, snacks and even a personalized note.
