HEAVY snow showers to coincide with Shetland’s rush hour made driving in and around Lerwick treacherous this morning (Wednesday).
Shetland News received several reports of particularly difficult driving conditions between Gulberwick and Lerwick.
Some cars were also reported to be stuck on Sound Brae.
A police spokeswoman said officers had to clear the A970 near Gulberwick after a vehicle partially blocked the road. There were no reports of any injuries.
“Due to the heavy snowfall, officers in Lerwick are advising members of the public to travel only if absolutely necessary,” the spokeswoman added.

WITH no Lerwick Up Helly Aa taking place this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are plenty of effort ongoing to make today – the last Tuesday in January â at least a little special.
An alternative Up Helly Aa bill has been erected at Lerwickâs Market Cross advising guizers to wear face masks and abide by the coronavirus rules.
