Letters: Administration Emboldened criminal activities

Letters: Administration Emboldened criminal activities Lincoln Courier Dear Editor, Does everyone see what is going on in our country now? We see men and women walking into stores gathering up all kinds of merchandise and just walking out nonchalantly. Nothing is being done just stop those people from that theft. The laws are being ignored, policies are being put in place that are causing real hardships to businesses, and general citizens at large. The question is when are people going to wake up? Guess what, we were pre-warned during the run up to the election. Not only that, but we also saw eight years of a movement towards socialism during the administration before Trump. I do not think people will ever get it really.  This is the exact opposite of the broken window theory that held down crime in these big cities. Now it is just an open door for people to come in and take what they want. Law-enforcement has been handcuffed to simply stand by and watch the crime being committe

Letters: Post truth

Jim Killebrew Dear Editor, It occurs to me that it has become extremely easy in our world to convince people of anything, even the most impossible thing.  Many have been convinced there is no difference between a male and a female.  Never mind people around the world have known as a fact there actually is a difference between a man and a woman, a boy, and a girl, a male and a female.  But now, many are certain there is no longer a gender difference.  Never mind that biological science has demonstrated the male brain thinks differently than the female brain.

Letters: Bible reading in military

Letters: Bible reading in military Jim Killebrew Dear Editor, I visited an antique store a while ago where I found a small pocket New Testament that had been handed out to soldiers during World War II. The one I bought had an inscription from a Chaplain and was dated November 1944. On the first page just inside the front cover was the following message from The White House in Washington, DC: To the Armed Forces: As Commander-in-Chief I take pleasure in commending the reading of the Bible to all who serve in the armed forces of the United States. Throughout the centuries men of many faiths and diverse origins have found in the Sacred Book words of wisdom, counsel and inspiration. It is a fountain of strength and now, as always, an aid in attaining the highest aspiration of the human soul. Very sincerely yours, Franklin D. Roosevelt

Letters: Study the History

Letters: Study the History Dear Editor, For several years we have learned about information regarding various school systems that have graduated high percentages of the High School graduates who could not read properly, write or do basic math. That also means they cannot name past Presidents, know basic American history, cite any political models of the past or understand the basic foundations of economic theory. As bad as this is, the worst part is perhaps they do not understand the importance of our foundational heritage, that we have been founded on the Judeo-Christian principles expounded on in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution that our rights are given by God and not by a government.

Letters: Spending responsibly

Lincoln Courier Dear Editor, When I was growing up my parents budgeted their available money to purchase the essentials of life.  Food, shelter, necessary bills, clothing, and other emergency things were all part of the expenditures they handled by savings, or paying out by what they then called, “layaway plans.”  When credit became a way of life, people began to sink into debt because it was so easy to overspend without accountability of knowing the earnings ratio to the spending patterns.  Families live completely differently in our current time.  Many live without budgets and find themselves in a pattern of spending more than they earn.  They place themselves in debt and end up paying only the interest on their debt.  They buy things they do not need for a variety of reasons, and consequently, end up in such debt they take bankruptcy to erase the debt.  Depending on the location of one’s home, things like rent, property taxes, utilities are variable.  Living in Los
