Following a "low" initial offer, a higher counteroffer from the Fargo Park District was summarily rejected by the Cass County Commission, leaving the future of the building in question.
"I believe, as Dawn Morgan and Jim Kapitan indicated, the greater disservice would be the loss of these buildings and an additional opportunity to repay an earlier favor," Fargo resident Ginny Poindexter writes.
Cass County officials indicate they will not accept the district's counteroffer of $1.1 million after rejecting the county's "top offer" of $750,000 to purchase the nearly 100-year-old building.
Murray Nash, Cass County election administrator, noted that the 2,000 to 2,500 people who were moving through vote centers each hour during the first nine hours increased to about 3,000 voters per hour for the last three hours of voting.
