Area residents wait in line to pick a turkey or ham during a giveaway hosted by B & J Trucking Services, Inc. Employees and members of the Jeffersonville Fire Department unpackaged and handed out the turkeys Friday. The event began at noon and more than 850 turkeys and hams were distributed by 1:15 p.m.
JEFFERSONVILLE â Before the doors even opened at noon, there were already more than 100 people in line Friday for a free ham and turkey giveaway in Jeffersonville. Within an hour, the food had all been claimed by local families and individuals.
âItâs wonderful,â Mother Jennifer Peters said after she and her two children had picked up the turkey sheâll cook for Christmas dinner. âA lot of people took the time to donate to make our Christmas better.â
