More than 260 athletes and 27 schools gathered at Westminster High School Wednesday morning to kick off the Carroll County Special Olympics Spring Games.
Though Carroll County’s sheriff and commissioners said they don’t believe the county needs a police accountability board, they are charged by the state with creating one by July 1. On Thursday, they began debating who may be chosen to serve on the board.
All of the Carroll County-specific bills introduced by the county delegation to the Maryland General Assembly passed during the 2022 session which adjourned earlier this week. Two statewide bills proposed by Del. Haven Shoemaker, a Republican representing Carroll County, did not.
A Westminster couple say a bullet they found lodged in a wall of their home Monday came from a nearby firearms facility where police were performing training exercises. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
