The Become a Hero in-person and virtual open houses will take place from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 17. The day s activities will be offered face-to-face (limited capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions) and virtually over Zoom (with one exception - the use of the range) for those who register.

Introducing candidates for April’s election By Steven Barnum, Correspondent McDONOUGH COUNTY The League of Women Voters of McDonough County organized a virtual forum where candidates for local offices introduced themselves and spoke about why they are running. Tri States Public Radio News Director Rich Egger moderated the forum, which included candidates for park board, library board, school board, Spoon River College Board of Trustees, and city council. Macomb City Council: Two candidates are competing to replace Fifth Ward Ald. Gayle Carper, who decided not to run for another term. Those candidates are Ashley Katz and Caren Bordowitz. Bordowitz is a graphic designer in university relations at Western Illinois University. She said that she wants to use her organizational and relationship-building skills to give back to the community.
