Murphy's words of advice would often influence business at the pumps, with many deciding when to fill up once George had forecasted Thursday gas prices. He also spent time as a cab driver and provincial MHA.

Jiffy Cabs is marking this year’s ‘Block a Jiffy’ campaign as a resounding success with a three-fold increase in donations.
Now in its fourth year, the campaign sets to fill a Jiffy with toys and gift cards to be given out at Christmastime through the Salvation Army.
Thanks to the generosity of many, the cab was filled and emptied three times this year.
Business manager George Murphy says it’s nice to see people’s generosity showing strong, despite the difficult year.
While the campaign has reached its end, anyone wishing to drop off a late donation can do so by calling 722-HOHO (722-4646).
