Jamshedpur: A 25-year-old woman in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district died of dengue while an 18-year-old girl tested positive for the mosquito-borne disease here in the past 24 hours, leaving the health workers, who are already grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic, extremely worried.
The district surveillance officer of Seraikela-Kharsawan, Jhujhar Majhi, said the deceased, Puja Sahu, a resident of Rajnagar block, was tested positive for dengue at the Tata Main Hospital (TMH) where she was undergoing treatment since July 6. She died on Thursday night.
“As an immediate measure, fogging and spraying of larvicide and bleaching power was done at the house of the deceased and in the vicinity. Besides, door-to-door surveillance has been launched to detect potential breeding ground of mosquitoes and destroy them,” Majhi said.
Jamshedpur: The Seraikela Kharsawan district health department on Wednesday asked all the public and private hospitals to inform the health officials as soon as any post Covid-linked cases are reported at their respective facilities. This comes two days after four suspected cases of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), which is linked to Covid-19, was reported at the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Adityapur.
“All hospitals that have a paediatric facility should be careful while dealing with the post Covid-linked cases and every case has to be reported to the department immediately,” district surveillance officer Jhujhar Majhi said.
Ranchi/Jamshedpur: The registration and inoculation of more 37 lakh beneficiaries above the age of 60 and people with co-morbidities above 45 started across Jharkhand on Monday. As senior citizens flocked to vaccination centres, long queues were seen at various centres and some session sites also experienced technical glitches leading to a delay in the start of the drive.
Dr Ajit Prasad, state nodal officer for vaccination, said, “Any person who will reach the age of 60 on January 1, 2022, will be eligible for vaccination and can register themselves on the CoWIN 2.0 portal. The same goes for people suffering with co-morbidities and reaching 45 years of age. The beneficiaries can book a session through the portal or carry a specific set of documents and get themselves vaccinated at the site.”
Jamshedpur: The Seraikela-Kharsawan district health department is now prepared with the necessary logistics and infrastructure reuirements for the nat.

JAMSHEDPUR: Following directives from the state government to make arrangements for storing the Covid-19 vaccine as and when it arrives, the Seraikela-Kharswan district is in the process of putting together storage facilities and constituting teams that will administer the vaccine.
District surveillance officer Jhujhar Majhi said, “Currently, the district has nine cold chain points – 25 deep freezers and 20 ice land refrigerators. Besides, the health department has sanctioned six deep freezers and two ice land refrigerators for the district which should arrive in a few days. These facilities will be sufficient to store the vaccine and if required, we will arrange for more.”
