The Boston Red Sox have invited nine minor leaguers, including left-handed depth starter Stephen Gonsalves, to big league spring training camp.
Right-handed pitchers Seth Blair, Raynel Espinal, Kevin McCarthy and Caleb Simpson received invites along with catchers Roldani Baldwin and Jhonny Pereda, first baseman Josh Ockimey and outfielder César Puello.
Gonsalves is an interesting lefty who impressed at the alternate training site in Pawtucket this summer. The Red Sox re-signed him to a minor league contract earlier this offseason.
