The construction of the proposed solid waste management plant located at Jhiri is more than 50% complete and the plant’s first unit is expected to be functional by March. Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth said following his Saturday visit to the site. The plant, comprising two units of 150 tonnes each, is being constructed by GAIL India at a cost of around Rs 50 crore. The MP said compost and CNG gas will be produced from the garbage processed at the plant. Once ready, the plant will have a capacity to generate eight tonnes of compost on a daily basis. Besides, 5,000kg CNG will also be generated which will contribute towards green energy.
