Police have registered a case against 35 persons in connection with the incident. Ranchi: In an appalling incident reported from Jharkhand’s Nawatoli, a 22-year-old youth died on Monday after being thrashed for several hours by a group of people who suspected him to be a vehicle lifter.  Police have booked five named and 30 unidentified persons in connection with the incident.

A woman was arrested in this connection, they said. Acting on a tip-off, a team of police personnel rescued the women and girls from the Daltonganj railway station before being trafficked to the southern state, a senior officer said. They are from Haidarnagar, Ganj and Sowa Baraiva areas and the police handed them over to the labour department, he said.
