Jharkhand Council of Educational Research and Training (JCERT) has revised the summer vacation dates for government schools in Ranchi from May 21 to June 7, adding 5 days to make up for unused winter vacation days. Parents and teachers welcome the extended break for students.
The Jharkhand Council of Educational Research and Training will hold the final examination of the second session of State Olympiad scheduled for January 29 and 30. In all, 1,487 students, selected on the basis of their performance in the first phase examination, will participate in the upcoming test to be held at 24 centres across the state. Ranchi has designated a centre at the School of Excellence, Bariatu Girls High School, where 65 candidates from the district will take the exam which covers subjects such as English, mathematics, science, social science and general studies.
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been incorporated into the curriculum of government schools in Jharkhand. The Act aims to combat sexual exploitation of children and protect them from sexual offenses, harassment, and pornography. Lessons on the Act and how to deal with such crimes will now be part of the syllabi for students in Classes VI to XII. This initiative is taken to create a safe environment for minors.
