Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party leader Champai Soren took oath as the new chief minister of Jharkhand after being nominated by Governor C P Radhakrishnan. Soren has been urged to expedite the process of forming a new government due to the state s political crisis. He has been granted a 10-day period to prove the majority of his government, as confirmed by state Congress chief Rajesh Thakur.
Late on Thursday, Governor CP Radhakrishnan invited Champai Soren to take charge of the government, almost 24 hours after the arrest of former CM Hemant Soren in an alleged money laundering case.
