As the rain gently fell on Marietta College’s picturesque campus, Terry Gasper (Woodbridge, Virginia) looked out over the sea of decorated caps and gowns with a mixture of pride, relief, and deep gratitude.His journey to Marietta College’s 187th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 4, had been an uphill battle strewn with obstacles. Still, through grit, determination, and an incredible support network, he earned his Sport Management degree with an Economics minor.
As the newly minted graduates hugged family members and grabbed friends for one more photograph, it was hard not to be thankful for the big smile on full display across Natasha Didytch’s face.
As more than 260 Marietta College graduates made their way into the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center on Saturday for the 185th Commencement ceremony, there was something more customary about the experience.

The President and CEO of DXC Technology shared his keys to a successful career, which included three critical stages. To get things started is the first five years after graduation.
“Your objective should be to learn as much as you can and prove your value,” Salvino said. “This means always going the extra mile, beating deadlines, arriving before (and leaving after) your supervisor, and always being accessible.”
