under way. volunteers on jet skis rescued a wife, husband, their 6-year-old daughter trapped in flood waters. about a dozen jet skiers rescued at least 100 people in dangerous conditions. cnn s patrick is in freeport, which is the main city on grand bahama. patri patrick, you mentioned earlier survivors were the first responders and now we re seeing the pictures to go with the images that you really were describing earlier to us. absolutely. and we were there the day after the hurricane, it was tuesday morning. the hurricane was raging here and i would say just being here far more than 100. we saw them working around the clock. dangerous conditions. conditions you should never be in a boat or jet ski. and imagine, you know, you re not just out on the water and hurricane-force winds, you re driving down submerged streets where there s all type of debris, fences under water, light posts. tons of different objects
i can t really remember what happened while i was under water. i can t imagine as you fall off the board there you are 50 feet up. you actually hold the record for hiding the highest, largest wave in history at 78 feet. but you ve also tell us about the 100 foot wave you did. i don t know if i ve ever i don t think anybody s ever surfed a 100 foot wave. but there s definitely 100 foot waves out there and we re getting close to it. everybody s getting close. so i look at that wave and i cannot believe the side of it. and that isn t even the biggest wave you ve surfed. so you re under the water as you fall off. did you have to be rescued? did you have to be pulled out by the jet skiers or did you pop up? you know, that s the amazing thing about mavericks. they re such a tight knit brotherhood and there s always a few guys out there for safety, and ian banner went in to get me, and kurt myers, they both came to get me a bunch of times and they didn t quite get me

see a sunken church. he is sick of the media attention and insists that the lake and the fishermen are completely safe as long as they follow these unwritten rules. this is not a jet ski lake. never a jet ski seen. they come, they show up on jet skis that they don t see, then they try to approach them and stop them, because it s a war over there. two cartels fighting each other for control, and they don t stop. they take off running. colette agreed to take us to old guerrero, eight miles into mexico, into what he describes as a drug war, to show us just how safe it really was. but before he even passed the channel marker dividing the u.s. and mexican border, speedy made us promise not to raise our camera, not to raise any suspicion and told us there s no doubt how jet skiers would look following this same path, like drug smugglers.
