Surveys released this week show how millions of families are now struggling financially, being unable to pay their rent, credit card and utility bills and increasingly gloomy about their future prospects.
Americans faced another month of economic hardship, and while average gas prices have dipped to $3.79 per gallon, the pain is being increasingly felt at grocery store checkouts.
The survey adds to gloomy economic forecasts, including reports that the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage has risen to 6.25% and household rents jumped 10% in 2021.
Even though gas prices have fallen to $3.78 per gallon and inflation dipped to 8.5 percent in July, the economy remains a top concern for millions of voters heading in to November s midterms.
