Youth are regularly invoked as symbols of the future. As a social category, youth can represent both possibility and threat in times of uncertainty and change. Today’s youth confront a world marked by widespread economic precarity, profound inequalities, ecological crisis, exclusionary nationalisms, and systemic racialized and gendered violence. Youth in Latin America, the Caribbean, and their diasporas experience these global dynamics in diverse ways, given their different social and political contexts and identities. But young people are also not just subject to these structural forces; they actively interpret and respond to these conditions in their activism, creative expression, and everyday interactions.
