The state Senate passed a bill that would require the state to protect an additional 11 percent of its land and waters by 2030; 19 percent is already conserved. The land would be conserved through conservation easements.
The New York State Senate advanced environmental legislation to support renewable energy and strengthen regulatory standards across New York. The legislation includes agreements related to renewable energy development as part of reforestation, exemptions for certain renewable energy generating projects in parklands, and guidance on the exploration of repurposing decommissioned or dormant electric generating sites as renewable energy resources.
