Time and again, it echoed how friends remembered the vibrant, kindhearted Roanoke Valley native.
âDarling â she really was,â said Brittany Chewning, who in high school often referred to Dickson by the affectionate handle âMiss Darling.â
âHer smile, I donât think Iâve ever seen anyone with that big of a smile,â she said. âShe could be somewhere and laugh, and I swear people from a half-mile around could hear her.
âI donât think Jessica Darling will ever be forgotten.â
The question of what happened to Jessica Darling Dickson has weighed on the minds of her family and friends for nearly two years.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – Human remains that were found on the campus of Hollins University in February were identified as a woman missing out of Salem, according to the Roanoke County Police Department.
On Friday, police identified the human remains as 31-year-old Jessica Darling Dickson of Salem, a woman who has been missing since 2019.
According to police, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death are still under investigation.
