Right now it is shuttling 200 adolescent salmon from a couple state hatcheries out to the ocean. Chinook samson are native to san francisco. When they are a ults did, they return to the same rivers to release their eggs. Dams, heavy river traffic and over fishing has made the swim out to the ocean treacherous. So it is part of an experiment to see if giving the salmon a ride down river will help their survival rates. Were trying to show that barging salmon down the river will increase their survival rate. Last we heard from firefighters, 50 acres have burned and you can see the charred hillside. Crews have been using heavy equipment to build a containment line. This chp had to top traffic on Franklin Canyon road because of downed power lines. Its unclear if the power lines caused the fire or came down because of the fire. Crews are making progress. Flames are now fully contained on the north site. Fire on the south site is 35 contained. Firefighters say structures are threatened. This is a rural area so there are horses, other animals, barns and other outbuildings in the fires path as well as homes. At this point no confirmed reports of any damage to structures. Another man is facing charges of accessory after the attack. It happened in an open space area. The victims were shot and attacked with a machete. According to the morin journal, the victims were lured to an open area to smoke marijuana. Authorities say the attack appears to be isolated incident.
