Small towns in America have disbanded their police units in the past two years due to hiring struggles as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and criticism in the wake of George Floyd s death.
There will be a Special Town Meeting on Wednesday April 12th to decide the fate of the Limestone Police Department, that’s according to a release from the Interim Town Manager Walt Elliott.
In a town select board meeting Wednesday evening the board unanimously passed a motion to disband the Limestone Police, according to interim Police Chief Jesse Cormier.
