senate majority leader mitch mcconnell needs at least 50 votes from his conference but that is proving to be a difficult task. just this week, four more republican senators, there they are in rural states, they came out against the bill and on thursday, mcconnell downplayed the prospects of its passing. well, if we are unable to if my side is unable to agree on an adequate replacement, then some kind of action on with regard to private health insurance market must occur. joining me now is the director of policy from the independent women s forum, and former hillary clinton campaign adviser jess macintosh here at 30 rock. hadley, i m going to start with you. why are republicans having so much trouble, do you think, getting enough support for their health care plan? well, they campaigned, many of them, on this promise to repeal the affordable care act, and now it s time to put their money where their mouth is and
navarro, former navy s.e.a.l. carl higby, doug high and jess macintosh. friends, first up, the national security council shake-up. donald trump from our reporting as you heard from sara murray, donald trump knew the shake-up was happening, but he knew what he was signing, what he was signing. he didn t know what a big deal it was, how unprecedented it was, how much impact it would have. big deal or no big deal? big deal. the president should know what he s signing, he should know the impact of it, because he should think these things through. this is part of the challenge that congressional republicans are having right now. they like so much of what donald trump is doing but there s so much that makes them very nervous, whether it s the travel ban, whether it s this. there s a real ying/yang in the government right now. he tweets, i call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data and
pill? i do not think it should be legal. i think that shouldn t be legal. that s no what we re talking about. no, but hold on, hold on. you re saying that the pill should not be legal. but you just said i just hold on, hold on, kristen, kristen, kristen, we can t talk at the same time. i just want clarity. i think that the pill and iud should be illegal, right? in my ideal world, yes. but i don t think that s something we re working towards in the pro-life movement. in the pro-life movement we re working towards abolishing abortion. that s why we want planned parenthood s money to go to health centers which do do contraception. we ve gotten some real clarity, i think the american people have gotten quite a bit of clarity on what your movement wants to do. i m just speaking for myself when i talk about contraception. there are a lot of and we ve gotten yours. thank you very much. jess will be back in our next
