Zoombombing, or the disruption of Zoom calls with antisemitic or racist messages, was also a new particularly troubling development last year. In New Jersey, there were 18 reported antisemitic “Zoombombing” incidents, says Scott Richman, director of the Anti-Defamation League’s New York/New Jersey Region.

In a year when schools and synagogues were mostly closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and that found many of us working or attending school and services virtually, one would have thought that the number of antisemitic incidents in New Jersey would have significantly declined in 2020. But rather than going on hiatus last year, hate simply moved to a different platform.
